CONNEXIONS LEICESTER SHIRE

have provided the following information, advice and guidance

Your Personal Adviser

A Connexions personal adviser (PA) visits the school reguarly.

They can:

  • tell you about the options open to you and help you decide what to do
  • answer your queries
  • help with any problems that make it hard to get the career you want.

Finding work, training or a course

Your PA can give you practical help with getting a job, an apprenticeship or a place at college.

They can:

  • help you apply for vacancies
  • help you arrange interviews
  • help you fill in application forms and cope with interviews
  • give you any other help that you need.

You can find the latest jobs and apprenticeships for young people on the Connexions website at www.connexions-leics.org/jobs.

Jobs and apprenticeships are also displayed in the school and in Connexions centres.

Money and benefits

Your PA can offer you advice about money.  This could include 'benefits' like Income Support or money while you're learning, like an EMA.

Information

The school has a Connexions resource area with information on all kinds of things like courses, jobs, health, money and free time.  The local Connexions centre has an 'Information Zone' with similar information.

Do you need extra help?

Do you have a learning difficulty or a disability?  Do you think you may find it hard to find work or a course that suits you?

Your PA can talk to you about:

  • college courses to meet your needs
  • special programmes if you are going straight into work
  • other people who can give you advice.

And finally

If you have left school you can still see a PA at your local Connexions centre - the addresses can be found at www.connexions-leics.org/centres/default.asp
